Cancer New Moon 2024
The Cancer New Moon Falls at 14º on July 5th 2024 at 3:57 PM Pacific Time.
With every Dark Moon Cancer you have the ability to harness the power of the Cancer to shed, purge, and release old wounding around the womb, the mother and lineage.
The power of energy is that you can use any moment to do your healing practices, but what I love about astrology is that it offers portals into being able to go deeper with the work.
Each month brings a new theme to the surface with the Moon meeting up with the Sun on the New Moon, and before that moment you find the dark moon urging you to purge everything within that theme that must be let go of.
Think of this moment as your monthly detoxification in each sign, and right now it’s the sign of Cancer.
This means shedding all things around:
The Mother Wound
Generational Healing
Karmic Healing
Reparenting Yourself
Womb Healing
And Self Nurturing
Aka, tapping into your root system, seeing what you’re made of, what programs you were taught and what in the past has been holding or hindering you.
What a beautiful opportunity to start clearing some karmic cycles.
The new moon in Cancer happens tomorrow, July 5th at 3:57pm pacific and before this time is the perfect time to shed and release any fears and programs around your comfort, your safety, your nourishment, intuition and and self nurturing.
This means that today (approximately 3 days before the New Moon) you have the opportunity to do an emotional detoxing by bearing witness to these areas of your life and consciously releasing whatever it is you’re ready to let go of in your life around the sign of Cancer (and the house is rules in your chart)
This New Moon falls at 14º Cancer and has the ability to flush out the sacred mother wound and help you restore your balance through your lineage.
I've talked a lot about the Mother Wound lately and how it is directly related to our energetic womb space. The womb is where you are storing generational ties, fear, shame, and those ties are like a link running through your family tree, bloodline, and past lives. Within all of us is a great mother, the maiden, and the crone and we are continuously moving through the cycles of these three energies.
This moon is particularly activation for the energy of the Great Mother as it’s not only in Cancer but forms a direct opposition to Ceres, the Great Mother herself.
If you are at all familiar with the story of Demeter, Persephone, and Hades you will understand the themes of loss, abandonment, grief, destruction, decay, and rebirth within in this story.
This is the energy you will be working with at this time.
What has been lost…
What has been abducted…
What part of you has been seemingly stolen away that you are reclaiming in the realms of your Ancestral Karma, your sacred root system much like Persephone was taken from Demeter (Ceres).
What memories from the past linger holding you back from your ability to deeply love, nourish and care for yourself in your wholeness?
The Grand Cross & Challenge to Break Through
This New Moon is forming a grand cross with Lilith and the South Node in Libra, the North Node in Aries, and Ceres in Capricorn.
Which will undoubtedly expose the shadows around where you have felt powerless, especially in the realm of relationships. This is one of the most potent portals to dig into the past to see where that loss of power happened, at who’s hands, and how you’ll reclaim your power and remember who you are.
You are coming home to yourself, but you’ll need to dig deep to remember.
Imagine yourself digging in the soil of your ancestry to unearth what has been hidden and buried in your subconscious realms.
Because the truth is, how can you build up (Capricorn) if you cannot root down (Cancer).
How can you build a solid foundation and future (Capricorn) if you do not feel safe in the here and now.
It’s time to tend to your roots.
Shake out the soil, pour cleansing waters on your inner root system, and replant yourself with the nourishment your soul has been craving.

Practices for the Cancer New Moon:
Look to the house ruled by Cancer in your chart to see where you are being invited to set intentions and reclaim your ancestral healing and healed mother energies. (Use the Free Guide to the Karma of the 12 Houses here)
Write down what you wish to release around the themes of Cancer and burn them (safely) surrendering them to the universe
On the New Moon write down your intentions and seeds you are planting in this area of your life, place this somewhere sacred like an altar
Use crystals like moonstone and selenite at this time to activate your intuition and have a clear intention for moving through the New Moon Cancer
Move your hips to activate your sacral energy at this time through practices like yoga. Postures like child's pose and happy baby can be especially supportive for your Sacral Chakra.
Go inward and allow for space and time to process any emotions arising
Build an altar to your Ancestors and ask them for guidance
